H Quest Vanguard is pioneering an innovative technology that harnesses microwave energy to decompose methane into hydrogen and carbon black at industrial scale, offering a greener alternative to traditional hydrogen production methods. We're seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to help fabricate, assemble, and maintain the specialized equipment that will bring this sustainable energy solution to market.

The Laboratory Technician will help develop fabrication procedures and produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment. This role will help with microwave plasma testing and system assembly and disassembly. This role requires strong attention to detail and respect for safety precautions. 


Responsibilities:

  • Ability to operate and maintain CNC milling machine (Tormach 1100)
  • Capable of reviewing engineering drawings  to provide feedback to design engineers
  • Knowledge of best machining and precision measurement practices 
  • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task
  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment
  • Support day-to-day R&D activities such as system operation, product recovery and cleanup, and maintenance
  • Maintains inventory of completed products
  • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Maintains a safe and clean workstation
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in math
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks

Minimum Expectations:
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly
  • Working knowledge of safety protocols
  • Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
  • This role is onsite and requires the employee to be in the office Monday through Friday


Preferred Expectations: 

  • Prior startup experience
  • Appetite for a fast-paced, early-stage, “get your hands dirty” startup environment
  • Experience with piping, plumbing, tubing (Swagelok), and fluid conveyance systems
  • Effective time management skills
